Description
The origins of Pride events in New Orleans are quite humble compared to the extravagant celebrations of love and visibility seen today throughout the French Quarter. In 1970, the Gay Liberation Front of New Orleans was formed and in 1971, members of the Front presented a "Gay In" picnic in City Park. This would eventually become known as the first celebration of Pride here in New Orleans. We can never thank the leaders and trailblazers who carved out a path for us to feel seen today. New Orleans Pride est. 1971.
